Trusted Coaching Professional
Thank you for taking the time to look at this website and get to know me and my ideas towards improving a child’s development through play time in fun rugby games.
I’m Tom Shuttleworth, an approachable 28-year-old young man from Eastbourne where I attended Bedes School. I’ve been coaching, teaching, analysing and playing rugby for 22 years and have now started my own business called Tom’s Rhinos Rugby School.
I hold Sports Coaching & Events Management Degree and Post Graduate Certificate in Sports Performance Analysis and a Fitness and Gym Instructor Level 2 Qualification. I’m also Level 1 & 2 RFU Coach, Level 1 & 2 Ski Instructor and Level 1 Skiing Race Coach.
I’ve been coaching for 10+ years from ages 2 -18+ boys, girls, men and woman across all levels of rugby. I’ve been involved from International Rugby to Grassroots rugby, where children have never played the sport before.
I’ve worked with nurseries, primary and secondary schools as well as state and private schools, rugby clubs and language schools. My experience working with children varies across the board and therefore I can adapt effectively to suit different age groups and aid in development at every level.
I’ve worked for England Rugby, Ireland Rugby, Wasps Academy, London Irish Rugby Club, GB Students Sevens, Ealing Trailfinders and Sussex County.
I went away from sport for 2 years because the industry didn’t treat me well and I needed a job with more fulfilment in my life. I’m now ready to use all my knowledge, experiences and qualifications to do what I love the most and work with children.
There is no greater sensation when you see a child learn and develop in front of your eyes knowing you were a part of her/his growth, this is why I’ve decided to pursue this pathway as I love it.
My Rhino's Rugby School development pathway is broken down into
6 different ages groups (all sessions' safety is taken seriously and risk assessments are taken before every session).
